We've updated our Remote Toolkit to help connect our community of architects during these times of working remotely

Work-life balance

School’s out, daycares are closed and guess what? Working from home with a toddler or child is tough. Child-led playtime is a great place to start, but this new situation means that we all need to be flexible. Start by blocking off nap-time for when you need uninterrupted work time.

Things to think about

  • Don’t expect to work at your normal office capacity.
  • Separate out roles, to make sure there is a division between parenting and business.
  • You are not alone. Parents around the world are currently facing the same issues and will understand if a little one pops into a conversation.
  • Offer to change hours,so you can work later at night or earlier in the morning.
